About Home Wildfire Preparation

Home Wildfire Preparation was founded to bring world-class fire modeling and information to the public. Our founder worked for the Forest Service as a hotshot and smokejumper. He worked in countless neighborhoods that were being evacuated and saw firsthand the fear, confusion, and helplessness of families as they evacuated from fires. He went on to get a bachelor's and master's degree in wildland fire, where he learned wildland fire modeling. He wondered why this technology was not available to the public and why it was not being used to solve the chaos of wildfire evacuations proactively.
